Billboard Japan and Space Shower TV are kicking off the NOW PLAYING JAPAN project, aiming to create new music trends together with listeners.
The first related music event will be March 19 at Tokyo Zepp DiverCity, and six of Japan’s major streaming services — Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC and Recochoku Best — will take part in this premium invite-only affair.
For the STARTERS MATCH competition leading up to the music event, from Friday (Jan. 12) to Feb. 12, nominees will vie to become the most-streamed artist on the aforementioned streaming services.
The seven nominated up-and-coming artists are Mizuki Ohara, King Gnu, Cider Girl, sui sui duck, PAELLAS, Miracle Vell Magic and Lick-G. The winner will perform live at the NOW PLAYING JAPAN event March 19.
Requests for invitations will be accepted starting Jan. 19. Other performers will be announced at a later date.
