The inaugural Billboard Dance 100 artist rankings kicked off with a bang at Miami Music Week 2018, supported by an activation at SiriusXM’s “House of Chill” event at Faena Miami Beach on Thursday, March 21, and a launch party at 1 Hotel South Beach’s Habitat on Friday, March 22.
Billboard Dance caught up with Above & Beyond, Kaskade, Don Diablo, Nicky Romero and more to see what dance artists appreciate about the new data-driven ranking, which is based on charts statistics, touring data and a fan-voted poll.
Coinciding with the annual Billboard Dance Power Players executives list’s release, the launch event also honored Billboard Dance’s 2018 executive of the year Moe Shalizi and top client Marshmello, who together attended the event and graced the cover of Billboard‘s 2018 Dance Issue.
Other Billboard Dance Power Players in attendance included Macquarie Clark, agent at Creative Artists Agency, Alex Cordova, managing partner and executive VP of nightlife for Wynn Las Vegas, Mike Darlington, co-founder/CEO of Monstercat?, Watse De Jong, owner/artist manager of Watse Matter, Kevin Gimble & Steve Gordon, co-founders of Circle Talent Agency, Adam Lynn & Zach Ruben, co-founders of Prime Social Group, Steve Martocci, CEO/co-founder of Splice, and Jose Woldring, CEO/founder, The Media Nanny.
