Six participants, including CBS country programming VP Jeff Garrison and KUPL Portland, Ore., PD Scott Mahalick, will address “The Changing Face of Country Radio: 2010 and Beyond” during the inaugural Billboard Country Music Summit June 7-8 at Nashville’s Hermitage Hotel.
Moderated by Billboard Nashville senior chart manager Wade Jessen, the discussion is expected to highlight such key issues as pending artist royalty legislation, PPM audience measurement and new business models in the broadcast industry.
The panel also features Capitol/EMI Nashville senior VP of promotion Steve Hodges; Morris Communications/Salina, Kan., operations manager Brian Jennings; Middle Tennessee State University Department of Recording Industry professor Paul Allen; and Cromwell Radio Group/Nashville president Bayard H. Walter.
Leading into the Country Music Assn.’s CMA Music Festival, the wideranging summit will also cover marketing, the digital revolution, touring and the evolving role of record labels. Tim McGraw will participate in a keynote Q&A session with Billboard executive director of content and programming for touring and live entertainment Ray Waddell. Blake Shelton will also take part in the conference’s final panel, “Not Your Granddaddy’s Record Label: Will the Last One to Abandon the Old Business Model Please Turn Out the Lights.”
