Wyclef Jean and Norah Jones have recorded a song in tribute to hurricane victims, “Any Other Day,” which will be sent to radio stations and made available for digital download tomorrow (Oct. 14) through MSN Music. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross and AmeriCares For Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief.
Described as a mournful yet optimistic ballad, the duet inspired by a Jones/Jean duet this August at an event for Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation. The Fugees member presented the song to Jones in September, after Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast. Jean then brought Jones’ guitarist Richard Julian on board to re-record with Jean’s guitar part.
Jean and Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis co-produced “Any Other Day,” with lyrics by Jean, Jones, and Lee Alexander. For every MSN download, the Wyclef Jean Foundation, DBA Yele Haiti Foundation, MSN, cYclips and Gasuza Media will contribute $.495 to the American Red Cross Katrina relief effort and $.495 to AmeriCares. Meanwhile, Jones, Alexander and Jean will donate all publishing royalties.

A house band comprised of members of Slipknot, Sepultura, Fear Factory and Machine Head will anchor Roadrunner Records’ 25th anniversary concert, to be held Dec. 15 at New York’s Nokia Theater. The show will be thematically similar to the just-released “”All Star Sessions” album, which finds various label acts recording and performing together.
Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory, Brujeria) and Adam Duce (Machine Head) are the first artists confirmed for the Dec. 15 show, which will also feature special guests from the Roadrunner roster as well as other music veterans.
Roadrunner has been celebrating its anniversary throughout the year by releasing special editions of records from artists like Killswitch Engage, Mercyful Fate and Coal Chamber.

Tortoise and Sweep The Leg Johnny have been added to the lineup for Flower Booking’s 15th anniversary concert series, which will be held Nov. 8-13 at Chicago’s Metro. Among the other previously announced participating acts are Jimmy Eat World, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Pelican, Isis, Smoking Popes, the American Analog Set and the Promise Ring, playing for the first time since its fall 2002 split.
The series will raise funds for P.L.A.Y. (Possibilities in Life: Art for Youth), a program for abused children in the Chicago’s foster care system. Organizers have also rounded up a host of unique items for an eBay auction, which went live today (Oct. 13).
Among the highlights: a private bowling party with Jimmy Eat World, a one-day studio session with Ted Leo, a remix of the winner’s song by Radio 4, VIP tickets to the Flower shows, two wristbands for the 2006 South by Southwest Festival and rare items from Fugazi, the Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk.
