The White Stripes have extended their spring South American tour, which will begin with a previously announced three-show run in Mexico. The group will also play shows in Guatemala, Panama, Columbia, Chile and Argentina before wrapping the run with a three-city swing through Brazil.
The dates come ahead of the June 7 release of the Stripes’ new album, “Get Behind Me Satan” via Third Man/V2. First single “Blue Orchid” is now available for digital download via Apple’s iTunes Music Store.

U.K. electronica duo Underworld has confirmed a handful of summer performances, beginning July 7 at Serbia’s Exit Festival and running through an Aug. 11 set at the Sizget Festival in Budapest. The group will also drop in on festivals in Poland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Holland, with a lone U.K. appearance set for July 29 at the Global Gathering 2005.Underworld has been at work on its next studio album and last week unleashed a live DJ set on its official Web site. Few specifics were revealed as group members Karl Hyde and Rick Smith answered questions from fans during the set, but Hyde said the artwork was “all done and dusted.” Smith also seemed to indicate the upcoming album would not be issued by longtime label V2, but gave no further details.
The pair did concede, “perhaps in the future we’ll maybe play some little segments of very new material that hasn’t yet been released in a show somewhere on the World Wide Web.” The upcoming album will be the follow-up to 2002’s “A Hundred Days Off.”

Canadian rock act the Dears will team with up-and-coming Swedish combo the Shout Out Louds for a North American tour that begins May 24 in Los Angeles. The Dears will be out behind their acclaimed 2004 spinART release “No Cities Left,” while the Shout Out Louds will be playing tunes from their Capitol debut, “Howl Howl Gaff Gaff.” That set is due May 24.Beforehand, the Dears have a run of May dates on tap in London, Holland, Paris and Japan.
