Cee-Lo, Panic! At The Disco, All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy, Michael Franti & Spearhead and Coheed & Cambria have offered up new or remixed tracks for the soundtrack to the upcoming film “Snakes on a Plane.” Due Aug. 15 via New Line, the album also features a pseudo movie theme song by Cobra Starship, staffed by members of the Academy Is…, Midtown, the Sounds and Gym Class Heroes.
With tongue firmly planted in cheek, “Snakes” star Samuel L. Jackson joins Cobra Starship and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz in the video for “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It),” in which the artists smuggle the snakes onto the plane via their luggage and instrument cases.
“Snakes on a Plane” opens Aug. 18 in U.S. theaters.

George Winston, Alex DeGrassi, Peter Lang, Country Joe McDonald, Sean Smith, Henry Kaiser and Nels Cline are among the acts who’ve contributed new recordings to “The Legend of Blind Joe Death,” a tribute album to late guitar legend John Fahey. The 20-track set is due Aug. 22 via Fahey’s former label, Takoma.
Liner notes for the album have been penned by Barry Hansen, better known as radio DJ Dr. Demento. The artwork was created by ’60s comic book illustrator Ted Richards.
“The Legend of Blind Joe Death,” which shares its name with a 1996 compilation of material associated with Fahey’s 1959 debut, “Blind Joe Death.” This is third Fahey tribute album to be released in recent months, following Vanguard’s “I am the Resurrection” and Slackertone Records’ “Friends of Fahey Tribute.
