Metallica will cram into New York’s 500-capacity Bowery Ballroom on Aug. 29 for a show open only to fans who will win tickets from local radio station WXRX (K-Rock). The station will begin distributing tickets Friday (Aug. 22).
As previously reported, Jewel has plans to star in “Wave,” an independent film project she is developing and producing. She has previously appeared in the films “Standing Still” and “Ride With the Devil.”
A North American tour in support of Jewel’s latest Atlantic album, “0304,” kicks off Sept. 19 in North Charleston, S.C.

“‘Asleep in the Back’ was the best of 10 years’ work, so there was no way we could do that again,” bassist Pete Turner says. “I think with the new album, we’ve ended up with the same sort of attention to detail and willingness to experiment. But it was made in a pressure cooker, so it has a very different vibe.”
“Cast of Thousands” won’t be released in North America until Jan. 13, but Elbow will spend the better part of the fall on tour. The group plays the U.K.’s Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend, followed by a 12-date U.K. trek that begins Sept. 24 in Stoke.
