Noted underground rock outfit Jets To Brazil has canceled a 33-date North American tour “due to a sudden illness,” according to a spokesperson. The trek was due to begin tonight (Oct. 14) in Brooklyn, N.Y., and last through late November. Although no further specifics were revealed, the spokesperson says “all currently standing interviews and interview requests” with frontman Blake Schwarzenbach “will, unfortunately, not be honored at this time.”
Jets To Brazil was due to support its latest Jade Tree album “Perfecting Loneliness,” due tomorrow. It’s the follow-up to 2000’s “Four Cornered Night,” which hit No. 19 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and has sold 48,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
In other touring news, rising U.K. rock combo the Music has canceled the remaining eight dates of a European tour following the death of drummer Phil Jordan’s mother. A spokesperson says the group, which was scheduled to play Milan last night, will honor its planned MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, which will air live on MTV Latin America and MTV2 from the Jackie Gleason Theatre. MTV will air the event Nov. 1 in the U.S.

Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook, guitarist Adrian Legg, and contemporary folk artists Lucy Kaplansky, David Wilcox, and Livingston Taylor will take part in November’s month-long 10th anniversary celebration of Philadelphia’s Tin Angel nightclub. Tilbrook will play two nights (Nov. 7-8), as will veteran British folk artist Donovan (Nov. 5-6), at the club, which is notable for its focus on acoustic music. Located above Serrano restaurant on Second between Chestnut and Market streets in Philly’s Olde City neighborhood, the intimate 115-seat Tin Angel has hosted everyone from David Gray and Duncan Sheik to Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna), Ray Manzarek (the Doors), and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott throughout its history.
