‘Glee’ Likely to Feature Original Songs in Upcoming Episodes
At a pre-Grammy Guild of Music Surpervisors awards ceremony and brunch held yesterday (Feb. 13), Billboard learned that “Glee” will likely feature an original song in an episode this season. In fact, next season there may be a “Glee” episode devoted entirely to original music, says the show’s music supervisor PJ Bloom. If it happened, the episode would most likely be based around a class assignment in which each chorus member would be tasked with composing an original song. (full story at Billboard.biz)
John Legend Collaborating With Kanye West on Next Album
Following Sunday night’s (Feb. 13) Grammy Awards, John Legend revealed a new collaboration partner in the works for 2011 — Kanye West. “I’m a couple weeks in [on my next album], I worked with Kanye for a week, and I’m going back in March. And, we’re really excited about it,” Legend says. “We worked together pretty closely on it, he’s executive-producing it, and co-writing a lot of stuff with me, and I think it’s going to be fun.” Legend won three Grammys at last night’s awards show. Ashlee Simpson Moves In With Sister Jessica
Reports suggest that the newly-divorced Ashlee Simpson has moved in with her sister, Jessica Simpson. The elder Simpson reportedly lended her younger sister a hand after Ashlee divorced Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz last week. “Leaving Pete was tough for Ashlee and she needed to be with her family,” an inside source says. “Jessica told her she and Bronx were welcome to stay with them until she was ready to find a place of her own.”(InTouch)
LCD Soundsystem, The Strokes Among Upcoming Late Night Musical Guests
A plethora of musical acts will be taking to the stage during this week’s late night TV round-up. Monday (Feb. 14) will feature LCD Soundsystem on “The Colbert Report,” followed by Drive-By Truckers on Tuesday’s (Feb. 15) “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and Odd Future on “Fallon” Wednesday (Feb. 16). Also announced are the Twilight Singers on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (Feb. 23) and epic return of the Strokes on “Saturday Night Live” (Mar. 5). (Pitchfork)
Daryl Hall’s ‘Live From Daryl’s House’ Moves to Small Screen
Daryl Hall‘s online performance series “Live From Daryl’s House” will make the transition to television this fall, as seven Tribune stations have picked up 36 episodes of the half-hour show. Hall has filmed 28 episodes, mostly at his home in upstate New York, partnering in each episode with different singer since 2007. Among his guests have ben Smokey Robinson, Sharon Jones, Travis McCoy, members of the Doors, Fitz & the Tantrums and, of course, John Oates. In each episode, Hall reaches into his catalog to perform with the guest and then jams on the guest’s material. (full story at Billboard.biz)
