Cher Responds to ‘Burlesque’ Oscar Snub
In today’s Oscar nomination flurry, many noticed that “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me Yet,” the “Burlesque” song written by Diane Warren and performed by Cher — aka, the best original song winner at the Golden Globes — didn’t receive a nomination for the Academy’s best original song. Cher was among those who expressed outrage, tweeting: “The Golden Globe 4 BEST SONG & not even get nominated by the OSCARS? Oh well it is..what it is…the sun is still shining!” In other words, haters gonna hate. In Twitter-related Oscar news, Justin Bieber sent his warm wishes to “True Grit’s” Hailee Steinfeld, who is nominated for best supporting actress. He tweeted: “Met at the Globes and she is super talented. CONGRATS to Hailee Steinfeld for being 14 and getting nominated for an OSCAR for TRUE GRIT!” (@cher, @justinbieber)
Ke$ha Sued By Former Manager for $14 Million
Ke$ha has been slapped with a $14 million lawsuit from her ex-managing team. DAS Communications claims that the star signed an agreement turning over 20 percent of her future income to DAS. They also claim that producer Dr. Luke intimidated Ke$ha to cut off ties with the team in 2008, and have filed a $12 million lawsuit against him as well. A countersuit from Ke$ha’s camp followed. The Strokes to Release New Album ‘Angles’ March 22
Everyone’s favorite garage rockers, The Strokes, will unveil their first album in five years, titled “Angles,” on March 22 through RCA and Rough Trade (in the UK). The lead single off the 10-song set will be “Under Cover of Darkness,” which will be released at radio starting next month. An announcement of a spring tour is expected soon, but what is known so far is that the band will play Coachella’s closing night on April 17, alongside Kanye West.
50 Cent’s ‘Black Magic’ Out This Summer
50 Cent recently revealed an update on “Black Magic,” which he revealed will be released this summer. “I think I’m 80% done with it,” he recently said. According to the rapper, the follow-up to 2009’s “Before I Self Destruct” will include producers Boi-1da, Alex Da Kid and Symbolyc One, who is known for his work with Kanye West. ( MTV News)
Bon Jovi To Appear In “New Year’s Eve” Film
Jon Bon Jovi has been added to the cast of Garry Marshall’s new film “New Year’s Eve,” playing “a successful rock star who once dumped [Halle] Berry’s character for a caterer but now finds himself face to face with [her] again at a party.” Also confirmed to appear in the flick are Zac Efron, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Sofia Vergara, Seth Meyers and Til Schweiger. Sheryl Crow Releasing Cookbook
Sheryl Crow will release a cookbook titled “If It Makes You Healthy” (a take on her song “If It Makes You Happy”) on March 29. The cookbook has been co-authored by Crow’s personal chef Chuck White, whom the singer met during her battle with breast cancer. One hundred and twenty-five “rock-and-roll-flavored” recipes are included in the book, which is arranged by seasons. ( Eater.com)
