Snoop Dogg and 3 Doors Down will headline separate shows as part of Bud Bowl 2006 in the days before the National Football League’s Super Bowl in Detroit. Snoop will perform Feb. 3, followed by 3 Doors Down the next night at Club 1620, a specially created climate-controlled staging area inside the Motor City’s open-air Tiger Stadium.
Tickets will be distributed by local radio stations and via giveaways in bars and restaurants and will not be available at the venue. Fans must be 21 or over to attend. Super Bowl XL will be held Feb. 5 and will be broadcast on CBS, with Stevie Wonder and the Rolling Stones confirmed to entertain.

Singer Frankie J is planning the fall follow-up to his 2005 sophomore Columbia effort, “The One.” But in the interim, he will will return to the studio this month to wrap up a Spanish-language set, “Un Nuevo Dia,” due Aprol 4. “The One” peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 823,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“Dia” will marks J’s return to his Latin roots but will span multiple genres, including R&B, rock and pop. “I was brought up listening to all kinds of music and this album shows that I’m at home singing anything,” the artist says. “This album is me being who I am.” A spring tour in support of “Dia” is in the works.

Chicago city officials have nixed a proposed June 19-20 concert by Radiohead at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion due to a scheduling conflict with a Grant Park Symphony Orchestra rehearsal. According to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago’s Cultural Affairs department has been reluctant to host rock shows in the venue due to noise complaints from nearby residents.
But local fans aren’t letting the situation fade away. Radio station Q101 is organizing a protest tomorrow night (Jan. 13) in the park, at which listeners will be encouraged to “moon” the mirrored statue the Bean. The station will also present a local band to cover Radiohead songs.
As previously reported, Radiohead’s next studio album is expected for release in the next few months.
