When the reunited Black Crowes returned to the studio for the first time in nearly five years, it wasn’t to work on material for a new album. The group recorded “Back Door Santa,” an original holiday song that it’s giving away to fans via its As previously reported, the Black Crowes will ring in New Year by headlining New York’s Madison Square Garden. The show will also feature sets by My Morning Jacket and the North Mississippi Allstars.

Machete Music is planning a CD/DVD compilation culled from the November “Megatón” reggaetón concerts that took place in Los Angeles and New York. Features tracks from the likes of Hector “El Father,” Luny Tunes and Wisin & Yandel, “Megatón: The Biggest Live Reggaetón Concert” will be released in February.
The album, which includes behind the scenes interviews, is a joint venture between Machete — a Universal owned Latin urban label– and SBS Entertainment, which produced the shows. This month, Machete and SBS will jointly release a greatest hits album titled “Megatón: The World’s Greatest Reggaetón Hits.”

New Year’s Eve in New York’s Times Square will have a Latin flair with a performance of “Arriba Arriba,” Univision Network’s official 2006 World Cup song. Univision Music Group pop acts Ana Barbara, Pablo Montero, Anais and Mariana are slated to perform the song, penned by Grammy winning producer and songwriter Sergio George and Jorge Luis Piloto, in the moments before the famous ball drops to welcome 2006.
