The Beastie Boys concert film “Awesome: I F***in’ Shot That!” will be screened March 23 at nearly 200 U.S. theaters, a week before it opens in limited theatrical release. The March 23 screenings will also feature the one-time-only 30-minute short “A Day in the Life of Nathanial Hornblower.”
Hornblower, an alter ego of Beastie Boys principal Adam Yauch, is portrayed in the feature by comedian David Cross. Tickets can be purchased at As previously reported, “Awesome” was assembled using footage shot by fans at an October 2004 show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The movie will also be screened March 15 in Austin, Texas, as part of the South by Southwest festival. Fans can view a trailer at AwesomeIShotThat.com.

Rob Thomas and Gavin DeGraw will perform at the second annual Musicians on Call benefit auction kickoff April 10 at Sotheby’s in New York. The event will include cocktails, a raffle and a preview of the auction items. Tickets are available through the Musicians On Call hotline at (212) 741-2709 for $250, $500 and $1000.
Items up for auction include signed memorabilia from artists like Paul Simon, Bon Jovi, Ringo Starr and Nelly, a trip to see Barry Manilow in Las Vegas and a studio tour from Maroon 5. Bidding will begin on April 10 through the Musicians on Call Web site. The organization helps to bring live and recorded music to the bedsides of hospitalized people.

Bloc Party and the Streets will co-headline the second Intonation Festival, which will be held June 24-25 in Chicago’s Union Park. The event is being curated by Vice Records and will be sponsored in part by Internet radio station KEXP. The full lineup is expected to feature more than 20 acts.
A limited number of two-day passes for $35 go on sale Monday (March 13) via the event’s Web site. Single-day passes will sell for $20.

Underground guitarist Loren Connors will be celebrated with the triple-disc set “Night Through: Singles and Collected Works 1976-2004.” Due June 6 via Family Vineyard, the project rounds up 71 tracks including the contents of 12 seven-inch vinyl singles, collaborations and previously unreleased material. The project was remastered from the original session tapes by Jim O’Rourke.
Tomorrow (March 10), Connors will play a rare show outside of New York with guitarist Alan Licht at the Live Oaks Friends Meeting House in Houston.
