Beastie Boys Back in the Studio?
The Beastie Boys may have resumed work on “Hot Sauce Committee, Pt 1,” the new album that the hip-hop trio was working on before member Adam Yauch (aka MCA) was diagnosed with cancer. According to a blog entry by member Mike D’s wife Tamra Davis, “Mike is back mixing his record, which means Adam Y is feeling better.” (Consequence of Sound via Vulture)
Madonna: “I Hate Actresses”
In a just-surfaced letter that Madonna allegedly wrote to her photographer pal Steven Meisel back in 1991, when she was in Chicago filming “A League of Their Own” with Geena Davis, the pop singer calls her co-star a “Barbie doll” and says, “I have made a few friends but they are athletes, not actresses. I hate actresses, they have nothing on the house of extravaganza.” She also writes, “I would love to do this book thing with you so let’s talk soon.” Madonna and Meisel would collaborate later on her controversial book, “SEX.” (Letters Of Note)

The Experience Music Project announced today (Oct. 14) that they will be opening the world’s most extensive exhibit of Nirvana memorabilia in Seattle next April. “Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses” will hold contain rare items, from the reel-to-reels where Kurt Cobain recorded his first demos to hand written notes and snap shots submitted by the band, their families and former crew members. The exhibit will run from April 16, 2011 to April 22, 2013.
Far East Movement Announce Tour with La Roux
Far East Movement, the group behind Hot 100 hit “Like A G6,” are heading out on the road with “Bulletproof” singers La Roux. The group, which has already toured with the likes of Lady Gaga and Mike Posner in the past six months, will set out on a six-date stint that starts in Baltimore on Nov. 7 and ends in New York on Nov. 18.
Flaming Lips Leader Supplies His Own Blood for Poster
The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne could have used “some chicken blood,” or, you know, red ink, for the band’s new poster to celebrate its show at last weekend’s Austin City Limits festival. Instead, he supplied vials of his own blood for the ink to the poster, which is expected to be auctioned off for fans. (@theflaminglips via Pitchfork)
