Billboard has partnered with BandLab on a new initiative to help underrepresented artists reach a global audience with their music.
The “Bringing BandLab to Billboard” portal presents a chance for an emerging artist to earn an editorial feature with Billboard. The exclusive interview will then be promoted on our Facebook and Twitter platforms, which have a combined audience of more than 25 million followers.
“Billboard and BandLab both value discovering and celebrating new talent,” Dana Droppo, Billboard‘s chief brand officer, said in a statement. “BandLab’s Opportunities platform gives musicians direct access to resources and breakthroughs to help them reach a wider audience of music fans. Through this platform we feel we are giving more artists the chance to be discovered.”
“We are just thrilled about this collaboration with Billboard, and their excitement about amplifying emerging and underrepresented artists with their brand,” added BandLab’s CEO and co-founder Meng Ru Kuok. “Artists receive something truly powerful through these connections, the chance to be seen in a prominent music publication. They can look back on this feature for decades to come.”
The “BandLab to Billboard” portal is accepting applications from artists through Sept. 30 via the BandLab interface. The opportunity to apply is open to any artist or creator, regardless of how long they’ve used BandLab or whether they are currently an active user of the platform. The first artist interview will be published by Oct. 15.
