As part of Billboard’s Latin Music Conference’s 25th anniversary celebration, Billboard has partnered with the CLIOs to expand its annual Latin Music & Marketing Awards, with entries officially opening today.
The groundbreaking awards, which honor the integration of music and marketing among agencies and labels, will now be expanded to nine categories, up from its original four, and will be judged by a panel of senior executives representing top U.S. advertising agencies, brands and Billboard. The entry and judging process is being powered by the team behind the CLIO Awards, the world’s most recognized international awards competition for advertising, design, interactive and communications.

The Latin Marketing & Music Awards will take place during the conference April 21-24 at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami. The week’s events will culminate with the 25th anniversary of the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 24.
In response to the increased importance of brands as partners in Latin music tours, videos and albums, the marketing awards were created four years ago and are the only awards in the marketplace that reward artist-driven and music campaigns in the Latin market.
“Billboard prides itself on being on the cutting edge of music and the music business, and these awards recognize a changing environment in which brands, marketing and advertising are essential partners to artists, labels and music,” says Leila Cobo, executive director of Latin Content and Programming for Billboard. “Having the experienced team at the CLIOs power these awards underscores how important they are to the industry.”
The Latin Marketing & Music Awards recognize campaigns in nine categories: best campaign of the year, best online or social campaign, best TV campaign, best tour sponsorship in addition to best digital, branded content, marketing effectiveness and integrated campaign. Eligible entrants can be from the United States, Latin America or Spain. Other countries are eligible, but campaigns must incorporate Latin music or Latin artists. The eligibility period is from January 1, 2012, through December 31, 2013.
The Billboard Latin Marketing & Music Awards honor creativity in marketing and advertising within the intersection of music, artist and brands amongst the Latin marketplace. Work entered must either use music that either caters to the Latin marketplace or markets Latin music. Submissions are open but not limited to advertising agencies, record labels, production companies, and brands. Entries will be judged by an esteemed panel of music industry experts, agency creative, and brand marketers.
Finalists will be named in early April and winners will be announced at the Billboard Latin Marketing & Music Awards reception, which will take place during the Billboard Latin Music Conference. Winners will be featured in Billboard magazine and Billboard.biz.
