Mary J. Blige, Eve, Missy Elliott, OutKast, Ludacris and Chingy have all signed on to perform at the inaugural Vibe Awards: Beats, Style, Flavor. Hosted by Queen Latifah, the event will be held Nov. 20 at the Santa Monica (Calif.) Civic Center and air as a two-hour special the next night on UPN.
As previously reported, Pharrell Williams leads the field with five nominations. Along with a nod for the most stylish award, his guest turn on Snoop Dogg’s “Beautiful” earned him mentions in the reelest video, hottest hook and coolest collabo categories. His production duo the Neptunes (with Chad Hugo) and group N.E.R.D are up as a single entry in the tightest team players category.
Voting for the “next” award for new artists is open to fans at the Vibe Web site. Chingy, Joe Budden, Bone Crusher, David Banner and Freeway are vying for the honor.
