‘Boss-Ass Bitch’ Isn’t Afraid of Trump
On Nov. 12, two days before Donald Trump addressed fears that his administration will result in the mass deportation of millions of immigrants, Berlin-born singer-songwriter Bibi Bourelly told Overheard she’s intent on making sure he’s a one-term president. “Seriously, f— him,” said Bourelly, 22, who co-wrote Rihanna’s hit single “Bitch Better Have My Money.” “A lot of artists would not want to speak to this because they don’t want to jeopardize their record sales,” but, she added, “I’m a boss-ass bitch and feel passionately that, for the well-being of our country, he cannot be in office.” The Def Jam artist (now an American citizen) spoke to Billboard in conjunction with the announcement that she is the first artist to collaborate with the just-launched EmoJam, an app that uses emojis to sell music and concert tickets. “My job is now to make sure that in the next four years, everybody in my generation goes out to vote.”
Ditto for YG
Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival expanded to two days for the first time last weekend (Nov. 12-13) and included appearances by Lil Wayne, D.R.A.M., Ty Dolla $ign, Mac Miller, G-Eazy and Chris Brown at Los Angeles’ Exposition Park. They all brought their hits, but it was YG’s unplanned rendition of “F— Donald Trump” (with Tyler’s help) that got the biggest rise out of the mostly college-age crowd. “F— that racist-ass mother—-er, he can suck my dick,” YG told the crowd, which roared its approval.
Kim Kardashian’s Former Bodyguard Gets a New Gig
Kim Kardashian’s former bodyguard Pascal Duvier, who reportedly was relieved of his job after the reality TV and social media star was robbed in Paris in October, has not had trouble finding new work. On Nov. 13, Duvier worked security for Brazilian singer-songwriter Claudia Leitte at the opening of Brazilian fashion designer Martha Medeiros boutique opening on Melrose in West Hollywood. Leitte, the former lead singer of the group Babado Novo, was the only celebrity who came with a bodyguard to the reception, where Brazilian celebs such as Mick Jagger‘s baby mama Luciana Gimenez and singer and TV personality Xuxa mingled with actresses Jordana Brewster and Camilla Belle, who are of Brazilian descent. Leitte traveled from Brazil to attend the party and sang classic bossa nova songs with a small band inside the store while Duvier stood next to her. Two days earlier, the German bodyguard was spotted keeping a protective eye over Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie as she took part in a photo shoot on the beach in Malibu.
