Beyoncé heads up Billboard’s weekly slate of top-grossing tours with sales reported from the final leg of her Mrs. Carter Show world tour that wrapped at the end of March. The pop diva was on the road for the bulk of 2013, performing in 23 countries on four continents through the end of the year. The final 2014 leg of the tour kicked off in Scotland on Feb. 20, marking her third jaunt through Europe since last year’s mid-April launch. This last string of shows began in the U.K., but dates followed in Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain before wrapping in Portugal on March 27. Multiple performances at arenas in London and Dublin were reported during a previous week, so after adding revenue from those markets to the $24.1 million included in this tally, her final European leg grossed more than $41.1 million from 25 sold out shows. The Mrs. Carter Show ended its yearlong run with overall revenue totaling $212 million from more than 1.8 million sold tickets at 126 concerts.
Dutch orchestra leader André Rieu earns the second slot on the list of Hot Tours with more than $17.6 million in sales from 50 concerts during the first four months of 2014. For the sixth consecutive year, the famed violinist played his first performance of the year on New Year’s Day in Köln, Germany at Lanxess Arena, kicking off a busy year of touring that will take him to 83 cities worldwide through the end of the year.
Cher follows at No. 3 with revenue reported from 11 markets during her trek through the U.S. and Canada that began on March 22. The four-month outing, dubbed the Dressed to Kill tour, started in Phoenix at the U.S. Airways Center with a crowd of 13,297 in attendance for a sold out performance. The rest of the concerts in this tally were also sellouts with a total of 142,487 tickets purchased for 11 shows. Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo provided support for the first round of concerts that ended on April 12 in Detroit. Cyndi Lauper is tapped to open the remaining dates on the North American leg that will run through July 11.
Rock legend Bruce Springsteen lands in the Top 10 (No. 5) with the first counts reported from his High Hope tour’s trek through 16 U.S. cities. Following concerts in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand earlier in the year, the Boss kicked off his North American jaunt at the March Madness Music Festival in Dallas, headlining the final night of the three-day event on April 6. His first U.S. arena date came two days later at Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena, followed by an outdoor amphitheater performance in Virginia Beach. With concerts in Columbus, Nashville and Charlotte added to the mix, $6.3 million in sales from the five shows reported this week bring the overall gross for Springsteen’s world tour with the E Street Band to $50 million.
