With “Black Out Tuesday” now in the rear view, an important journey awaits.
So says Beyonce, who issued a reminder that the fight for justice and equality is only beginning.
Queen Bey took to Instagram to point out that the murder of George Floyd mustn’t be in vain.
“The world came together for George Floyd,” she writes. “We know there is a long road ahead. Let’s remain aligned and focused in our call for real justice.”
Bey was among the hundreds of artists who spoke out following Floyd’s death, which was captured on video and shared around the globe.
Last week, Beyonce posted a photo of Floyd on her homepage with the simple but powerful caption: “Rest in Power George Floyd.”
In a separate message, she wrote: “We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this behavior,” she said. “No more senseless killings of human beings, no more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away.”
The Minneapolis police officer who pinned Floyd to the ground with a knee to the neck, resulting in his death, is now facing second degree murder charges. The other officers involved in the killing are charged with aiding and abetting murder.
