The night before the final day of his impeachment trial, when the Senate is scheduled to vote on his removal from office, Donald Trump delivered his third official State of the Union address on Tuesday evening (Feb. 4).
“Three years ago, we launched the Great American Comeback,” he opened his speech. “Tonight, I stand before you to share the incredible results.”
With his impeachment weighing heavy, Trump tried to spin the situation into a positive one, boasting about the economy under his leadership, pharmaceuticals, and surprising everyone by awarding Rush Limbaugh the Medal of Freedom, just one day after the right-wing talk-show host revealed he has stage four lung cancer.
Most viewers back home were fixated with the image of House speaker Nancy Pelosi tearing up Trump’s prepared speech.
A number of celebrities have taken to social media to react to the State of the Union, the falsehoods proclaimed and Trump’s refusal to shake Pelosi’s hand.

Isn’t it funny how STFU looks similar to SOTU? Don’t you wish that #Jackass would STFU during SOTU?

Donald will brag about his”perfect call”, his wall, winning popular vote, his polls, his rallies, his inauguration crowd, (2016) call Hillary “crooked”, call Mexicans murderers and rapists, and bringing the world to its knees. He will not mention that he is impeached for life.

Where does he get the stats from? Stephen Miller? He lies so much, why should we believe him tonight or ever? He THREW PEOPLE OFF food stamps, and didn’t “lift” people off welfare, he kicked them out to join the homeless.

Big Brother gives us a SOTU.
— Bette Midler (@BetteMidler) February 5, 2020
The horror is the point
The cruelty is the feature –@lsarsour: Trump is literally lauding himself for kicking 7 million people off of food stamps and millions more off of welfare. He’s proud that struggling families are struggling more. The GOP applauded him. SMH. #SOTU”— John Cusack (@johncusack) February 5, 2020
oh my god where is the lie counter?

Using black folks as #SOTU weapons to target poor folks coming north to this country for a better shot. Racist, race-baiting, xenophobic bullshit to the applause & back slaps of lawmakers’ white hands. Garbage.

The vulnerable as human shields for Trump and his racist, self-serving gameshow. Disgusting. Fall the this, you’ll fall for anything. https://t.co/gXoiZ2tJhN

Democrats will never stop extending the hand of friendship to get the job done #ForThePeople. We will work to find common ground where we can, but will stand our ground where we cannot. #SOTU pic.twitter.com/ELJqR9q4xD

As Speaker of the House for four State of the Unions by a President of the other party I am disgusted and insulted by the viciously partisan action of Nancy Pelosi tearing up the speech. She isn’t clever or cute her childishness insults our American traditions -should be censured.
