BERLIN – The German concert promoter Deutsche Entertainment AG (DEAG) in Berlin has joined forces with the Swiss media company Ringier AG to form the concert agency Starclick Entertainment AG, in Zurich
The new company will work independently in Switzerland, and take over operation of the over 40-year-old Swiss agency Free & Virgin, which has promoted events such as the “Out in the Green Festival” and tours with U2, Metallica, and the German-language hard rock band Die Ärzte. “Starclick is concentrating on the genres rock/pop and alternative for club shows and festivals,” said DEAG’s CEO Prof. Peter Schwenkow. “Starclick will also be promoting new talents.”
Ringier already has a share of 48 percent in the 22-employee Swiss DEAG subsidiary Good News, which had revenues of 50 million CHF in 2010. DEAG and Ringier are also cooperating in Switzerland on marketing classical music, with The Classical Company.
DEAG has been one of the leading concert promoters in Germany, the UK, and Switzerland for 30 years. The 200-employee company stages 1,000 events per year, and had revenues of 126 million euro in 2010.
Ringier is a 7,500-employee multinational integrated media company. Founded in 1833, Ringier houses print, broadcast, radio, online and mobile media brands, and is a successful player in the newspaper, magazine, and internet business. Its 2009 revenues stood at 1.3 billion CHF.
