
Germany has been at the forefront of assisting the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe, and now its nightlife capital is also doing its part. An assortment of Berlin nightclubs have reportedly raised €40,000 ($45,622) for refugees charities through a guestlist donation campaign called Plus 1.

For a six-month period, participating Berlin venues required at least a one-Euro donation from anyone seeking entry via the guestlist. More than 80 nightclubs, promoters and artists in Germany have signed on to support the campaign since its October 2015 launch.

The donations will go to the charities Sea-Watch, Moabit helps! and Berlin Refugees, which focus on safeguarding the rights of refugees entering through the Mediterranean Sea and lobbying the State Office of Health and Welfare.
According to the report, Plus 1 hopes to remain a philanthropic presence in Berlin by championing other charitable causes in the future.
