Berklee College of Music will be holding audition and interview scholarship events on June 2-3 in Nairobi, Kenya. The events, part of Berklee’s Africa Scholars Program, are offering musicians throughout Africa the chance to attend the college through various scholarships. A roundtable discussion featuring Berklee faculty and local educators has also been scheduled.
For the second straight year, Berklee will be awarding a four-year, full tuition scholarship to one student. Last year’s events, which inaugurated the Africa Scholars Program and took place in Accra, Ghana and Durban, resulted in $1.4 million in scholarships given to 26 musicians.
The Africa Scholars Program, founded by Berklee president Roger Brown and his wife Linda Mason, was created to recognize gifted African musicians with scholarship opportunities and develop Berklee’s presence in Africa.
