Back in June, British singer/songwriter Georgia Ku made a summer anthem for the sad girls with “What Do I Do?” The breakup ballad (and also her first solo single after penning songs for Fifth Harmony, Skrillex, Kiiara and Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa) laments how all the seemingly trivial things in life like dresses, beaches and songs on the radio can suddenly become painful relics of an ended relationship. What does someone have to do to get past it?
In Benny Benassi’s case, the answer is simply to dance. On Thursday (Oct. 17), Ku has teamed up with the Italian dance heavyweight for an official remix that takes “What Do I Do?” from the depths of despair to the dancefloor. Benassi cranks up the energy a notch or two with a piano-house rendition that slowly builds into a bouncing, joy-radiating chorus. A few listens to this will have you smiling and (hopefully) forgetting your ex in no time.
Speaking to Billboard Dance over email, Ku says, “Benny and I have known each other for a long time and have been saying for a while that we wanted to work on something together. I love Benny’s work and energy; he has a signature sound that can’t be missed. I’m so happy we could make this one happen and hope to collab again in the future.”
