This quarantine has given us not one, but two viral Cardi B remixes by DJ iMarkKeyz.
After propelling himself to fame (and the Billboard charts) with Cardi’s “Coronavirus” rant back in March, the DJ returns for round two with “WAP,” the wet-and-wild collaboration she did with fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. But they’re not the ones featured on the song’s newest version.
Conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro gave a stiff line-by-line recitation of the raunchy lyrics on Monday’s (Aug. 10) episode of The Ben Shapiro Show. And his version of the NSFW (a newly outdated term considering WFH conditions) track where he recites the censored titular line “wet a– p-word” is the lyrical focal point of the DJ iMarkKeyz’s latest banger.

The DJ (real name Brandon Davidson) shared the minute-and-a-half remix on his Instagram, which still includes Frank Ski’s Baltimore club sample “Whores In This House” playing along with The Daily Wire editor-in-chief’s emotionless reading. DJ iMarkKeyz also splices together snippets of famous music videos in the Halle Berry-approved accompanying collage clip, from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars‘ “Uptown Funk” to Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s “Drunk In Love.”
And he fashioned Shapiro’s argument about “WAP” representing the feminist movement as a whole as the song’s outro. “Guys, this is what feminists fought for,” the public speaker claimed during his radio segment earlier this week. “This is what the feminist movement is all about. It’s not really about women being treated as independent, full-rounded human beings. It’s about wet a– p-word. And if you say anything differently, [it’s] because you’re a misogynist, you see.”
According to the DJ’s interview with Variety on Monday, he explained how it only took half an hour to remix Shapiro’s rendition that blew up as a viral meme all over social media, much like the Invasion of Privacy rapper’s “Coronavirus” rant just months earlier during the pandemic.
“It was funny when I saw the actual video. I didn’t know he was digging into the politics of the actual song, I thought it was loving it,” DJ iMarkKeyz told Variety. “After I watched the whole entire video, I saw that he’s not. He’s against the actual song, so I added my own little twist to it to make it seem like he likes it.”
