The video for the hit Natasha Bedingfield single “Unwritten” premiered last night (March 16) on Microsoft Xbox 360, kicking off a year-long partnership between the gaming company and Epic Records. Bedingfield will also compete against fans on the game “Burnout Revenge” next month as part of Xbox Live’s “Game With Fame.”
“Unwritten” is No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 3 on the Billboard Pop 100 and No. 5 on Hot Digital Songs this week. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the track has sold 616,000 downloads in the United States.
“What’s really important to us is reaching this audience of nearly three million [Xbox Live] people who really love games and also love music,” Epic digital marketing VP Cory Llewellyn says. “It’s basically connecting our artists into this great online gaming social network.”
The AOM promotion will feature a sweepstakes with an Xbox 360 system as the grand prize, and autographed copies of Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” album and Xbox 360 games among the other prizes.
“We’ll also offer exclusive interviews and other bonus download material for the featured artist each month,” says Xbox Live group marketing manager Aaron Greenberg. “We’re making a full-year commitment to this AOM program, which we know will produce big dividends to Epic and Xbox.”
