Hustlers, Jennifer Lopez‘s highly anticipated tale about a group of strippers stealing thousands of dollars from their Wall Street clients, recently started shooting in New York, but there’s one famous face who won’t be joining in. In a recent Beats 1 interview, Bebe Rexha revealed that she auditioned for the movie but didn’t get a part.
“They hit me up and I was like, ‘okay, yeah, sure,'” she said. “So I got an acting coach. She’s awesome and she was teaching me how to act and stuff. It was really hard though because you have to be serious.”
Rexha said she auditioned for the part of a “Russian girl from New York” and that while she didn’t wind up getting the part, it’s all for the best because her mother didn’t exactly approve of her portraying a stripper.
“My mom was not happy about it,” she admits.
All’s well that ends well, though: Rexha will star alongside Kelly Clarkson and Janelle Monae in the animated movie UglyDolls.
Hustlers will star Lopez, Constace Wu, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles and Keke Palmer. Check out Rexha’s discussion of her audition below.
