On Aug. 22 and Sept. 13, a collection of house and techno stars will come together for a good cause, with some help from Beatport.
Today (Aug. 14), Beatport announced a pair of ReConnect livestream events benefitting Beirut, following the Aug. 4 explosion in the Lebanese capital that has left 177 people dead and 30 missing.
Earlier this week, Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab and his Government resigned in the wake of the wake of the blast, as protests continue throughout the city.
The Aug. 22 ReConnect show will feature 24 sets over 24 hours and include music from Carl Cox, Damian Lazarus, John Digweed, Victor Calderone, Pan-Pot and Nicole Moudaber, who spent the early part of her career promoting parties in Beirut.
The fundraisers hope to raise $250,000 for disaster relief, directly aiding those in need.
“Officials estimate the explosion caused up to $15 billion of damage,” Moudaber, who is co-hosting the events along with WILD Tulum, Factory People and Beatport, says in a statement. “International financial aid and support has been overwhelming, but it’s not enough. We must support in any way we can to help, and in addition, our efforts will also be helping the music and arts industry of Lebanon which has been wiped out.”
