Five Latin American territories will screen the BBC/VH1 Classic (U.S.) co-production “Seven Ages of Rock,” following its successful inclusion at this year’s BBC Showcase Latin America.
Globo in Brazil, Hispanoamerica TV in Paraguay, TVN in Chile, TNU in Uruguay and Canal 11 in Mexico have all acquired the seven-part series. Forty-one broadcasters around the globe have now bought the show.
“Seven Ages of Rock” follows the most generation-defining moments in rock since the Sixties. It features exclusive interview and performance footage from The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, U2, David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, Oasis, Black Sabbath and The Smiths.
“Seven Ages of Rock has struck a real chord in Latin America, which is evident in the number of sales we’ve already secured,” said Susanna Pollack, SVP TV sales, co-productions and childrens at BBC Worldwide Americas, in a statement. “This year was the first time we presented music programming at BBC Showcase Latin America and I’m delighted that the new content was so well received.”

BBC Showcase Latin America 2008 was held in Rio de Janeiro, Sept. 8 to Sept. 10.
