Popular K-pop boy band B.A.P are continuing the genre’s U.S. invasion with the four-date “Live on Earth” tour. While top-tier acts like BIGBANG and 2NE1 hit only New York and Los Angeles while touring America, B.A.P will hit Washington D.C. and San Francisco on their trek.
Verizon Wireless and Mnet, an entertainment brand for “all things Asian cool” known for their TV channel, are teaming up to bring the six-member group to America in May to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Each stop will include fan meet-ups in each city. In October, the band had met some of their U.S. fans in Los Angeles when they performed and participated in KCON 2012.
“B.A.P is going to prove again that K-pop is a powerful force across cultures, with Asian and non-Asian fans alike,” CEO and President of Mnet America Ted Kim said in a press release.
Despite only debuting in January 2012, B.A.P has worked hard to establish themselves in the K-pop world. The busy boy band has released six singles since debuting and recently earned another K-Pop Hot 100 Top 20 hit with “One Shot.” They have also proven they can sell records in the U.S. as they topped the World Albums chart with the accompanying “One Shot” EP in March.
