The iconic regional Mexican group Banda El Recodo has renewed their recording contract with Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Founded 75 years ago, recently signed on to continue making music through UMLE’s Fonovisa label.
“La Banda El Recodo, synonymous with traditional music, [is] recognized by countless generations … [and] will continue crafting many new hits,” said Victor Gonzalez, president of UMLE.
In a span of 75 years Banda el Recodo has received dozens of accolades in the music industry from Grammys to a strong following of fans around the world.
The group has notched 38 singles on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs tally, as well as two No. 1’s in 2009: “Te Presumo” and “Me Gusta Todo de Ti.” They also have top 10s on Regional Mexican Airplay. Additionally, they have 11 top ten albums on Top Latin Albums and 21 top tens on Regional Mexican Albums, with five of those reaching No. 1. Their total U.S. album sales come to 1.9 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The band’s newest single is due to go on sale on Sept. 3. In October the band will release a new album, the title of which has not been revealed.
