Sean “Diddy” Combs, founder and CEO of Bad Boy Entertainment and producer Emilio Estefan, chairman of Estefan Enterprises, have officially launched Bad Boy Latino. The multi-media joint venture, which will have offices in Miami and New York, will focus on finding
and developing a new generation of Latin talent.
“Bad Boy Records is a nest for a non traditional format,” comments Estefan.
“It’s a new generation,” says Estefan referring to the music that mixes Latin and hip hop, to the new generation of Latins listening to the music, and a new generation of technology that will be fundamental in the development of Bad Boy Latino acts. Bad Boy Latino will be marketed and distributed through Warner Music Latina.
Also involved in the label is Cuban rapper Pitbull, who will have an A&R role. Last April, Combs and Pitbull announced they were partnering in Bad Boy Latino. According to Pitbull’s TVT label, he is also a partner in the venture.
Estefan says he will be selective in signing acts to Bad Boy Latino. To date, he is still scouting talent and doesn’t expect to release any of his artists for at least four to six months. “More than quantity, our interest is in making a major statement,” says Estefan.
