Singer/producer Marc Anthony celebrated his birthday with fans in Miami this weekend, at a Friday night birthday bash hosted by Kohl’s and at two sold-out shows at the American Airlines Arena (capacity 14,000).
Marc Anthony has often said he’s a big fan of Frank Sinatra’s, but his second sold-out performance in Miami Saturday night was equal parts Frank in style and improvisation and equal parts Mick Jagger in sheer energy and showmanship, with a bonus: Anthony’s vocal prowess is unparalleled.
Following the show, it was a zoo backstage. Only minutes after the singer left the stage, an entourage of executives and celebrities flocked to his dressing room, including Gloria and Emilio Estefan, baseball player Mike Piazza and singer/actor Carlos Ponce.
Already there was Pitbull, who made a surprise appearance to sing “Rain On Me,” his new single featuring Marc. Salsa star Luis Enrique and composer Omar Alfanno were also among those who toasted the star backstage. Marc Anthony will continue to play shows in the West Coast as he winds down the U.S. leg of his current tour.
