Red-hot indie up-and-comers the Head and the Heart played their second of three back-to-back New York shows last night at Bowery Ballroom. Supported by Thao with the Get Down Stay Down and fellow Seattlites the Devil Whale, the Sub Pop band’s stint in the city follows their recent snagging of the No. 1 spot on AAA radio charts; their late set charmed the sold-out audience, which included members of their own camp as well as local industry tastemakers.

Among other industry folks in attendance were VH1’s executive VP of talent and music programming Rick Krim, Zeitgeist Artist Management owner Jordan Kurland, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon music booker (and former Billboard editor) Jonathan Cohen. While the Head and the Heart took to Fallon this past May, a slew of other Sub Pop artists are slated for upcoming appearances on the show, including Dum Dum Girls and Blitzen Trapper.
Sub Pop publicist and director of marketing Kate Jackson made an east coast appearance, too; even her beau, Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel, showed up, coming off a Monday taping of last night’s Jimmy Fallon episode, for which the Foo covered Pink Floyd with the help of Roger Waters.

Head and the Heart manager Matt Shay (also of Zeitgeist Artist Management) also managed to make it out, sharing with Billboard that he recently picked up indie-punk mainstays Say Anything. The band, Shay said, signed with Equal Visions Records (responsible for early releases by acts like Coheed and Cambria and Circa Survive) this summer and plan to release their new record in March of next year.
