Avicii has released an inspiring new video for “Broken Arrows,” chronicling an Olympic athlete’s comeback story.
The Julius Onah-directed video features Zac Brown‘s country-tinged vocals with Avicii’s club-ready production, as a protagonist based on Olympian Dick Fosbury struggles to find success as a high jumper.
In the video, the lead character struggles with alcoholism, leaving a daughter at home during the days, while he struggles to fulfill his potential on the field as well. Finally, it’s his daughter who finally helps him redeem himself and become a world champion with a new style of jumping.
The true story of Dick Fosbury that seems to have inspired the video by is likely far less dramatic, but Fosbury did endure criticism as he invented a new jumping technique. It became known as the “Fosbury Flop” and he used it to win a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics, revolutionizing the sport in the process
