In 2013, Avicii finds his club smash “Levels” up for the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. In fact, the Swedish superstar EDM DJ/producer has been nominated two years running, and still doesn’t quite believe his good luck. “I don’t feel like the Grammys have anything to do with me,” he says. “I never thought I’d be nominated. I remember when David Guetta and Skrillex were first nominated that I couldn’t picture it happening to me, too. It’s like going to a movie. I’m excited to experience the whole event, and looking forward to the unexpected.” Here’s how Avicii plans on spinning his moment at music’s biggest night out.
So, what’s the party not to miss?
There’s so much stuff going on. I know I’m playing somewhere. I have three parties during Grammy week!
Indeed, it’s hard being popular. Are you going to tweet during the event?
We’ll see if there’s something to tweet about.
How will you celebrate?
I’m going to go to this Korean barbeque place, Genwa, with some friends visiting from Sweden. The food is amazing, and it’s very social.
Celebratory cocktail of choice?
Beer. It’s a long-ass weekend, so I have to make sure to pace myself and stay away from doing shots!
Do you have any other can’t-miss L.A. hotspots you’ll hit during Grammy week?
Matsuhisa. I like the atmosphere of the room. It’s very mellowing to eat there.
Who are you afraid you might forget to thank if you win?
My manager, definitely. It’s been a team effort all the way. And baby Jesus!
