Avenged Sevenfold has announced that its sixth studio album, “Hail to the King,” will be released on Aug. 27 on Warner Bros. Records. The veteran rock band revealed the information through an online scavenger hunt and are currently streaming snippets of their new songs there as well.

“Nightmare,” the band’s previous album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 765,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Like that album, “Hail to the King” will be produced by Mike Elizondo, who has worked with everyone from Dr. Dre to Fiona Apple. In the interim between albums, the members of A7X have toured relentlessly behind “Nightmare,” played a USO tour for troops Kuwait and Iraq, and have appeared as characters in “Call of Duty Black Ops 2.”
On Aug. 26, one day before the album release, Avenged Sevenfold will perform a free show at The Hollywood Palladium as a special thank-you to fans. No other tour dates have been announced yet.
