U.S. pop superstar P!nk has finally landed the best-selling album on Australia’s year-end sales chart, after finishing in the runner-up position on four successive occasions.
P!nk’s best-of compilation “Greatest Hits…So Far” (LaFace/Sony) takes the No. 1 on ARIA’s 2010 Top 100 Albums chart, holding-off Susan Boyle from grabbing a second-consecutive year-end chart-topper.
With P!nk’s latest chart-feat, the Philadelphia native has enjoyed a top-two albums berth Down Under for each year from 2006-2010. Previously, P!nk’s “I’m Not Dead” finished 2006 and 2007 in the bridesmaid position. P!nk’s enduring 2008 album “Funhouse” came in at No. 34 on the latest year-end chart, publishing today, having arrived at No. 2 on the ARIA Top 100 Album Chart in both 2008 and 2009.

Boyle, the reality-TV discovery from Scotland, has sewn-up the runner’s-up position in 2010 with “I Dreamed A Dream” (Syco/Sony) and grabbed the No. 5 slot for “The Gift.” In doing so, Boyle has achieved her own milestone by becoming the first act to secure two albums in an ARIA Top 100 Album Chart top 5 since Abba achieved the feat in 1976.
Also on the 2010 chart, Eminem’s “Recovery” (Interscope/Universal) grabbed third position, while “Bon Jovi Greatest Hits” (Def Jam/Universal) took out the fourth spot.
Australian artists accounted for 30 of the top 100 albums, led by Angus and Julia Stone’s double-platinum (140,000 units) certified “Down The Way” (Capital/EMI) at No. 7. Back in 2009, the year-end chart counted 26 Australian recordings, with the Hilltop Hoods’ “State of the Art” (Golden Era/Universal) the highest-ranked at No. 12.
In addition to Pink and Boyle, various artists enjoyed multiple entries in the top 100 list this year, including Katy Perry, Kings Of Leon, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas and local lad Mark Vincent. None were as conspicuous as the Glee Cast or Glee Soundtrack albums, which were mentioned on five occasions.
The ARIA 2010 Top 100 Singles Chart is led by the four-times platinum certified (280,000 units) “Love The Way You Lie” by Eminem featuring Rihanna, which trumps Usher featuring will.i.am ‘s “OMG.” Rounding out the top five are newcomer Taio Cruz’ “Dynamite” (Island/Universal) at No. 3, Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister” (Columbia/Sony) at No. 4 and Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg at No. 5 with “California Gurls” (Capital/EMI).
Homegrown talent accounted for 14 of the top 100 singles, led by Sydney dance act Yolanda Be Cool & DCup’s double-platinum hit (140,000 units) “We Speak No Americano” (Sweat It Out/Universal) at No. 34. Soul-pop singer Guy Sebastian contributed two singles to the chart, platinum-certified (70,000 units) “Who’s That Girl” featuring Eve at No. 42 and “Art Of Love” featuring Jordin Sparks at No. 90. Domestic tracks appeared just 14 times on the year-end singles chart, down from 18 in 2009.
