SYDNEY (The Hollywood Reporter) — Victorian police have seized approximately 25,000 illegal DVDs with a street value of more than A$250,000 ($194,000), including more than 2,000 pornographic films, the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft said in a statement March 23.
AFACT said police also seized pirated DVD-R discs, four computer towers comprising 23 DVD-R burners, four high-quality printers, a laminator, a shrink-wrap machine and a quantity of cash. Authorities arrested a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in Melbourne in connection with the raids.
AFACT estimates the illegal lab to have been capable of producing 340,000 discs a year, equaling A$3 million ($2.3 million) worth of pirated product.
