After nearly a decade of obscurity, INXS is attempting comeback with a reality TV show, new album, tour and now, an autobiography. Simon & Schuster imprint Atria has acquired the rights to “INXS: Story to Story,” which the band will write with journalist Anthony Bozza. The book is expected to hit shelves in the fall, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the Australian rock act’s debut album.
“A number of books have been written about us over the years, most of them in the wake of [lead singer] Michael [Hutchence’s] tragic death, but none of them has been authorized by us or in any way reflective of our point of view,” says INXS guitarist Kirk Pengilly.
The group’s new CBS reality show, “Rock Star: INXS,” documents the search for a replacement for Hutchence, who died in 1997 of an apparent suicide. The new vocalist will join INXS for a fall tour and a new studio album, due Nov. 15 via Epic.
