Atlantic Records unveiled a desktop computer application that will aggregate various types of online content related to its artists in one location. Called Fanbase, the desktop widget includes a music player for streaming tracks, chat feature to communicate with other fans, tour dates, videos and other features customized for each artist.
To deliver this content and information, Atlantic partnered with a number of different providers, including ad-based music social networking service Imeem, Youtube and Brightcove for video, Meebo for the chat window, and others.
Participating artists include T.I., Simple Plan, Shinedown and Pretty Ricky. Fans can download the widget from the Atlantic Web site or from the Web site of each individual artist.
