Keith,
Vanessa Hudgens, from Disney Channel’s “High School Musical,” released an album titled “V” (last year). The first single, “Come Back to Me,” peaked at No. 55 on The Billboard Hot 100 but the second single, “Say OK,” didn’t do nearly as well (No. 61). Is she working on releasing another single? Also, how many units has “V” sold?
Brian Burks
Hi Brian,
Here’s the word straight from the publicity department at Hollywood Records, Hudgens’ label. There are no plans for a third single from the album. The focus for Hudgens right now is all things related to “High School Musical 2.” (And really, can you blame her? The “HSM2” album is a sure shot for a No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200.)
So far, “V” has sold 506,000 copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan.RIHANNA WON’T STOP THE MUSIC
Hi Keith,
I’ve been wondering what’s going on with Rihanna. She recently released her music video for “Don’t Stop the Music” but on the radio I’ve been hearing “Hate That I Love You” (another song from her album). So, is she releasing two singles at once? It’s very confusing.
Thanks,

Hello Zehavi,
“Shut Up and Drive” is the official second single from “Good Girl Gone Bad.” The third single is “Hate That I Love You.”
The former is targeted to top 40 radio stations, while “Hate That I Love You” (which features Ne-Yo) is aimed at R&B stations. Eventually, once “Shut Up” peaks at top 40 radio, “Hate That I Love You” will be serviced to top 40 stations.
“Don’t Stop the Music,” while it does have a music video, is earmarked for dance club play and dance radio outlets at this time.
Excuse me as I dip into chart geek territory. Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” contains elements of Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” The Jackson single hit No. 5 on The Billboard Hot 100 in 1983.WHAT HAPPEN’STANCE’ WITH YAMAGATA?
Keith,
I am a big fan of Rachael Yamagata and my question concerns her upcoming album. Back in February, a Billboard.com article stated that the “darker, grittier” album was to be released in late April/early May.
Well it is now August and I have not heard anything about it since that article. Could you please tell me when the estimated release date for the album is? And I was also wondering how many copies her first album, “Happenstance,” has sold.
Thanks,
Mitchell Jackson

Hi Mitchell,
A release date for Yamagata’s forthcoming album has yet to be announced by her record label, RCA.
The singer is heading out on the road, opening for Mandy Moore beginning Aug. 28 in Tuscon, Ariz. The pair continues their tour through Sept. 11 at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va.
Her 2004 album, “Happenstance,” has sold 143,000 in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan.
