Hello,
Word has it that Britney Spears has recently filmed a video for her song “Do Somethin'” off her recent “Greatest Hits” album. However, word also has it that this video will not be released in America, only in other countries. Is this true? Has she really filmed a video for “Do Somethin’?” If it won’t be released in America, why not? Will the song at least be released to radio here in America?

As of now, there are no announced plans from Jive, Spears’ record label, regarding a forthcoming U.S. single from her “Greatest Hits” set. However, there have been a number of reports that have a video for “Do Somethin'” premiering on MTV in January.
Spears’ cover of “My Prerogative,” the lead track from the collection, missed the Billboard Hot 100. It did, however, peak at No. 22 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart.
It would not be the first non-U.S. single and video for Spears. Previously, her songs “I Love Rock n’ Roll” and “Born to Make You Happy” were only promoted to radio and released commercially outside of America.
To day, Spears’ “Greatest Hits” has sold 693,000 in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Do you know how Busted is doing here in the United States? The group released an album on Oct. 12, but I haven’t heard much about it yet. Has Busted quit trying to crack the U.S. market? If not, what’s next for them?

Evidently you aren’t the only person who hasn’t heard much about Busted. The U.K. trio’s self-titled American debut has sold only 12,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The band is busy on tour in the U.K., but you can find out more about the group by watching its American MTV2 show “America or Busted.” The six-episode series follows the act on its U.S. promotional tour, detailing the various highs and lows of trying to break America.

I have a couple of questions. First, I was wondering when Billboard counts the number of albums sold, do you count copies that were sold online? If not, then how is the difference made up? Also I was wondering if you can tell me the sales numbers for Utada’s English language debut, “Exodus.”

Nielsen SoundScan, which collects and tabulates the sales data that informs Billboard’s charts, includes sales from many Internet retailers as well as digital providers. Among those outlets are such retailers as Amazon.com and the iTunes Music Store and event official artist Web sites.
As for Utada, to date “Exodus” has shifted 31,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set was released Oct. 5 and subsequently debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers and No. 160 on The Billboard 200.
Dance remixes of her single “Devil Inside” helped to push the track to No. 1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart on Oct. 30. For the next club single, DJs will be serviced in January with mixes of “Exodus 04.”
