I heard that Depeche Mode will release a brand new single and album this fall. Do you know the release dates in the United States?
Thanks for your time,
Actually, Depeche Mode’s new single, “Precious,” has already been delivered to radio stations around the world. It debuted on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart last week at No. 38. It’s the first single from the forthcoming album “Playing the Angel,” due out Oct. 18 via Sire/Reprise.
The group will mount a world tour beginning Nov. 2 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The North American leg will wrap in mid-December and with a European trek to begin in mid-January.

STILL (EN) VOGUE
The other night I was watching the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors show and practically fell out of my chair and experienced the most heavenly heart attack a man could have when I saw the original members of En Vogue (Dawn, Terry, Cindy and Maxine) were performing “Whatta Man” with Salt-N-Pepa. I am a huge En Vogue fan and I was beyond thrilled to see my ladies performing together for the first time in about seven or eight years. Do you have any information as to whether or not the four will have a new album or tour anytime soon?
Thanks a million,
I saw the great performance too, and have to wonder why neither of the groups have a major label deal. But as far as we are aware, neither En Vogue nor Salt N Pepa have announced any plans to record new material or tour. However, we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything.
En Vogue’s last studio album was “Soul Flower” in 2004. It has sold 34,000 thus far according to Nielsen SoundScan. Salt-N-Pepa’s last U.S. release was way back in 1997 with “Brand New.” It has sold about 300,000 to date in America.
The Grammy winning Salt-N-Pepa has scored 19 hits on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, including “Push It,” “Expression,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Shoop” and “Whatta Man.”
En Vogue has reached the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart 16 times, with nine top 10 hits. They also achieved 6 No. 1 singles: “Hold On,” “Lies, “You Don’t Have To Worry, “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It), “Giving Him Something He Can Feel” and “Don’t Let Go (Love)”
I heard Britney Spears’ song “Someday (I Will Understand)” on AOL First Listen two months ago. I wanted to get that song on iTunes or as a single, but is it even for sale yet? Maybe it’s on the remix album that she has coming out soon?
Britney Spears’ “Someday” is now available via iTunes or as part of the CD/DVD package “Chaotic-The DVD and More.” It was released on Sept. 27 and includes three songs: “Someday,” “Chaotic” and “Mona Lisa.”
On Nov. 8, Spears will issue “Remixed,” a collection of previously released hit remixes along with new reworkings of her familiar songs. The Jive set’s first single, “And Then We Kiss,” has been remixed by Junkie XL and was just recently serviced to dance clubs and radio. Other remixers lined up for the set include Peter Rauhofer, Bill Hamel, Jacques Lu Cont, Davidson Ospina and Hex Hextor, although the lineup is subject to change.
