MADONNA’S SINGLE
Hello Keith.
I was wondering about the status of Madonna’s third single from “Confessions on a Dance Floor.” I heard that “Get Together” was her last commercial single from the album, although it seems that it contains a handful of other tracks that are single-worthy.
Also, is “Get Together” getting any attention at radio? It seems to have missed the Billboard Hot 100. Finally, how is “Confessions on a Dance Floor” doing sales-wise? Is it becoming a huge seller like “Ray of Light” or is it stalling in sales?

Don’t worry, “Get Together” is not the final single from Madonna’s “Confessions on a Dance Floor.” The fourth single will be “Jump.”
“Get Together” has pretty much stalled out on American radio. A handful of dance stations are spinning the track a lot, but the vast majority of outlets have ignored the song. (Unsurprisingly, “Get Together” is doing well on the radio in many countries outside of America.)
So far, the single has yet to enter the Billboard Hot 100. Even though the U.S. radio picture is bleak, the song could still chart based on its digital and retail sales. Perhaps if the psychedelic animated music video for the song starts to get some serious screen time on the video networks, consumers will be motivated to buy the track via digital download services.
If it gets enough sales, it could enter the Billboard Hot 100 and become Madonna’s 53rd chart hit.
So far, “Confessions on a Dance Floor” has sold 1.5 million in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s more than twice what her last studio album, 2003’s “American Life,” has sold (666,000). It’s still a long way from catching up to “Ray of Light,” which has sold 3.8 million in America.OLSTEAD ON THE HOMESTEAD

You’re my last hope! I have been searching everywhere for information on Renee Olstead’s new album. A friend of mine introduced me to her music a couple of years ago and I was blown away by her first jazz album. What an amazing voice, especially for someone that young!
So, of course, when I heard that a new one was due this year, I couldn’t wait for it to come out. The last I had heard, it was supposed to be released this spring, but that has already come and gone. I’ve checked her Web site, as well as the sites for David Foster (her producer) and her record label, but there’s nothing on a release date. David Foster even mentioned her on “American Idol” this season.

Renee Olstead is working with David Foster on a new album, but a release date has not been set. Since it’s still early on in the process, the album may not surface until 2007. (As of this writing, Foster was scheduled to appear on ABC’s “The View” on July 13. Perhaps he’ll spill some more information during his chat.)
Olstead is probably most familiar to people as a co-star on the now-cancelled CBS comedy series “Still Standing.” The show wrapped up its run in March, but it will live on through syndicated reruns on the Lifetime channel beginning in September.
Olstead’s self-titled 2004 album has sold 166,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album spent two weeks at No. 1 on our Top Jazz Albums chart and has spent 86 weeks on the tally.
On July 22, Olstead will perform at the Starry Night benefit, a Grammy Foundation fundraiser honoring Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The event will take place in Malibu, Calif. For further information, visit Grammyfoundation.com.Minoguemore?

I know you get asked about her quite a bit in your column, but can you tell me when/if the new Dannii Minogue hits collection will see a release Stateside? Also, were any of Minogue’s other albums released in the U.S. besides “Neon Nights?” I seem to remember a U.S. release for her single “This Is It,” but I’m not sure. If so, has she had any chart hits?

Hello David,
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Dannii Minogue, so I’m glad you asked this question. The dance/pop artist’s new album, “The Hits & Beyond,” was recently released in the U.K. where it bowed at No. 17 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. The set boasts 20 songs, including 14 top 20 U.K. singles. Of the 20 tracks on the album, six are new recordings, including her most recent hit, “So Under Pressure.”
According to Minogue’s management and her U.K. record label (All Around The World), “Hits & Beyond” may be released in the U.S. later this year. Of course, plans could change, so we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear any news.
Aside from “Neon Nights,” the only other Minogue album to be released in the U.S. was “Love and Kisses” in 1992. Prior to 2003, Minogue only released three commercially available singles in the U.S. — as far as we can tell: “This Is It,” “Jump to the Beat” and “$ucce$$.”
Only her output from “Neon Nights” has reached any of Billboard’s charts. The album itself reached No. 17 on Top Electronic Albums, while “I Begin To Wonder” and “Don’t Wanna Lose This Feeling” both reached the top 10 on Hot Dance Radio Airplay.
