
A man was convicted of stalking Ashanti in a New York court on Friday (March 18).

Devar Hurd was found guilty of felony 2nd degree stalking for sending the singer lewd tweets and text messages. The ruling follows a jailing in 2013 on the same charges. He could face another one and a half to four years when sentenced later this month, TMZ reports.
The case was initially tried in December 2014 but resulted in a mistrial because a juror grew ill during deliberations. Hurd was tried again in October and convicted on several counts, but the jury could not reach a verdict then on the top count of stalking in the second degree.

Hurd defended himself in court and in his closing statements on Thursday told the jury that sending explicit texts and tweets is not stalking and that she could have blocked him if she wanted to avoid him.
