The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers will hold a daily showcase, renamed ASCAP Music Café, at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The event will feature Wynonna, John Rzeznik (of the Goo Goo Dolls), Damien Rice, Rachael Yamagata, Gin Blossoms, and Chad & Jeremy, among others. This marks the 11th year in which ASCAP has held a showcase.
In addition, ASCAP throws an invite-only Filmmaker & Composer Breakfast, which will include a panel featuring filmmakers with their composers talking about their artistic collaboration.
“ASCAP is delighted to partner once again with the Sundance Film Festival to underscore the important role of music in film,” said Sundance ASCAP Music Café producer Loretta Muñoz, ASCAP Assistant Vice President. “Our goal at the Festival, and throughout the year, is to connect composers and songwriters with filmmakers and film and music executives. By combining a showcase for live performances of music with a forum for networking, we set the stage for the scores and soundtracks of the future.”
Beginning Jan. 16 and running through Jan. 23, ASCAP Music Café performances begin each day at 2:00 p.m., except for 1:00 p.m. on January 22.
This year’s program, presented by Ray-Ban, also features Dave Barnes,
Birdmonster, Tom Freund, Anwan Glover (of the Backyard Band), Rosi Golan, the Guggenheim Grotto, Katie Herzig, Lenka, Locksley, Maiysha, Chris Mann, The People Speak, Landon Pigg, Angel Taylor, Phil Vassar, Sara Watkins, Dan Wilson, and Youth Speaks.
