ASCAP made 741 million in payments to its members in 2007, a 9 percent increase in distributions from 2006.
The announcement was made Thursday at the ASCAP annual general membership meeting, part of the three-day I Create Music Expo at Hollywood and Highland.
ASCAP CEO John LoFrumento said that the organization’s operating expenses also dropped in 2007, to 11.9 percent of total revenue from 12.1 percent the previous year.
Looking forward to 2008, Frumento says that ASCAP’s goal is to distribute 800 million in payments to its members.
“This world – new or old – cannot survive without your music,” he said.
