As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis pled not guilty to a solicitation-of-murder charge at his arraignment on Thursday.
Bail was set at $3 million, sources on the scene confirmed to Billboard. Prosecutors asked for $20 million.
Lambesis is alleged to have asked an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife, Meggan. On Thursday, prosecutors said a recording exists of Lambesis giving the officer an envelope with cash, home gate codes and pictures of Meggan, alleging the musician told the officer to kill her while he was with their children in order to establish an alibi.
Deputy District Attorney Claudia Grosso alleged that Lambesis had also engaged in extramarital affairs and emailed Meggan to state he had fallen out of love with her and ceased to believe in God. As I Lay Dying are a Christian band.
Lambesis’ fellow As I Lay Dying members were in court on Thursday in support, as were reps for Metal Blade Records, 5B Management and the band’s attorney, Ian Friedman.
